Turning an agricultural challenge into a sustainable opportunity — that’s the ambition behind Circulus Agtech.
A Circular Solution for Farms
Founded in Quebec, Circulus Agtech is revolutionizing manure treatment through a locally developed technology. In just 10 days — instead of six months — organic materials are transformed into precision eco-friendly fertilizer, while producing clean water ready to return to the agricultural cycle.
Results:
- Fewer emissions
- Reduced odors
- Fertilizer ready for use during the growing season
At the helm of the company is David Leroux, a chemical engineer. His ambition is clear: modernize agricultural organic waste management while improving farm profitability.
A key milestone has confirmed the strength of this approach: approval from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for their first product — a fertilizer derived from insect manure — now on the market. This major regulatory validation paves the way for large-scale commercialization.
The Deployment Challenge
Innovating in agriculture means balancing technological performance, regulatory requirements, and on-the-ground adoption.
Securing CFIA approval marked a critical first milestone. Today, the challenge lies in deployment: installing the first treatment systems directly on farms, demonstrating operational profitability, and building the appropriate manufacturing capacity.
To achieve this, Circulus is actively preparing for its scale-up.
A Catalyst for Growth
Circulus has participated in three Desjardins programs: Coopérathon, à la carte services (formerly La Foundry), and Startup in Residence. Beyond funding, the support has been highly structuring — including strategic guidance, go-to-market support, fundraising preparation, and hands-on involvement from experts.
This partnership is helping transform a technological innovation into a concrete solution for farms — and into a lever for sustainable growth.
A New Phase of Development
The company is currently finalizing a $500,000 pre-seed round to support its first commercial installations.
A $3 million seed round is planned for 2026 to accelerate expansion across Canada, the United States, and beyond.
Next milestones:
- Finalize the pre-seed round and structure the seed round with agriculture-focused investors
- Increase sales of the CFIA-approved fertilizer
- Establish manufacturing partnerships
- Strengthen the team in finance and operations
Circulus is among the companies redefining sustainable agriculture — reducing environmental impact while creating greater value for producers.
