On May 29th, the 2024 edition of the Startup Matchday Sweden-Canada took place in partnership with Ignite Sweden, a Swedish non-profit organization that supports large Swedish corporations in integrating innovative solutions from Swedish or international startups.
The event offers companies from both countries the chance to meet innovative startups mainly operating in the sectors of forestry, sustainable resource management, and mining, with the ultimate goal of concrete collaboration.
Five Swedish corporations met with a total of 21 Quebec startups, and six Quebec corporations met with a total of 31 Swedish startups, to explore potential collaboration opportunities.
The identified issues covered various aspects, from environmental solutions such as reducing CO2 emissions or sustainable construction using wood and other ecological materials; the use of data for forest management automation, data-driven decision support systems, or wood traceability for sustainability; solutions to improve safety in these environments, and many others.
Virtual meetings were held on May 29th for an initial exchange. Since then, several follow-up discussions have taken place.
We are pleased to see the culmination of the partnership with Ignite Sweden and the matches being made between large corporations and Quebec (Driad AI, RHST Industries Inc.) and Swedish startups (Arboair, Buddywise, Katam Technologies, LumberScan).
As part of our participation in Business Sweden's Sweden Canada Innovation Days in Toronto, we were able to present the collaboration between Ignite Sweden and Québec Tech to a packed room. Two Quebec organizations, the startup Driad AI and the corp Chantiers de Chibougamau Ltée, were also able to act as panelists during this day.
This visit is part of Québec Tech's mission to generate local and international commercial opportunities for our Quebec startups.
